Sixty years ago, a young Richard D. Eiseman, known to most as “Dick,” purchased a pair of pavé diamond earrings for his new jewelry salon with wife Louise by his side. Concerned that the earrings might not sell because of the expense, Louise quickly realized that her husband’s exquisite taste and eye for quality workmanship would build one of the most successful family-owned businesses in Dallas.
Today, their son Richard D. Eiseman Jr. stewards one of Dallas’ most noted luxury retailers. Bearing the family name that is synonymous with luxury and quality jewelry and fine timepieces, Eiseman Jr. has continued the timeless traditions that his father built six decades ago while continuously thinking to the future.
Eiseman Jr. learned the business at his father’s side, even earning his allowance by stacking watch boxes at the store, and has unofficially been a part of the business for all of its history. Along the way, his interest in the business progressed from dinner table conversation to helping behind the counters.
In 1981, after graduating from Claremont Men’s College in California, the junior Eiseman moved to New York to study the trade at the New York Gemological Institute. Upon returning home, his father, then diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, was ready for Richard Jr. to take a larger role in the family business. After his father’s death in 1996, Richard Jr. along with long-time associate Jerry Goldwyn forged ahead with a continued vision of the family namesake firm.
In 1997, Eiseman Jr. became president of the company and since then, alongside a dedicated team of talented associates, has enjoyed many milestone moments including: induction into the National Jeweler magazine’s Retail Hall of Fame, the addition of the first stand-alone Rolex shop in shop in Texas, a newly redesigned and expanded salon in 2014, expansion of Eiseman’s watch division to include 10 Swiss timepiece brands as well as world-renowned jewelry designers, and the introduction of a concierge program.
In May 2023, Taylor Frank was announced as president of Eiseman Jewels, with Eiseman Jr. retaining his role as CEO.
In 2024 Eiseman Jewels celebrates its 60th anniversary year, which will include a year-long celebration along with 60 acts of kindness dedicated to the North Texas philanthropic community.
