With Eiseman Jewels upcoming Watch Fair in the month of November, extraordinary timepieces are definitely on our mind. While watches are always in style, like jewelry and fashion we do see trends that emerge across all brands for both men and women.

Eiseman Jewels timepiece director Andrew Black offers these insights into current trends:

Quiet luxury in men’s watches

While quiet luxury - a trend that takes a minimalist approach to style but emphasizes quality materials and timeless elegance - is not new, it continues to be a trend for men’s watches in particular. With our offerings at Eiseman, we see a few great examples from Parmigiani Fleurier and Jaeger-LeCoultre.

The size of watches is moving beyond gender stereotypes.

In the past, many associated a smaller timepiece as a “woman’s watch.” While we definitely have some amazing offerings that fit that description, we are seeing now that timepiece purchases by women, and men, are not bound by these stereotypes. Larger timepieces for women have been a trend for several years, and we are also seeing that our female aficionados also want more complications and beautiful chronographs with movement.

Women are selecting bold gold and plain stainless steel over diamonds and gem-set bezels.

Much like the selection of a larger timepiece, women are also leaning towards bold gold and plain stainless in timepieces without diamonds and gem-set bezels. These watches not only transition from day to night more easily, but are also perfect for stacking with a variety of bracelets and accessorizing with other jewelry.

Cocktail watches make an elegant fashion statement for women.

With the return of elegant fashion and occasion dressing, on and off the runway, women are choosing cocktail watches with jewelry-like designs for evening and special events. Although the cocktail watch dates back to the 19th century, contemporary designs feature beautiful leather straps in a variety of colors, paired with stainless-steel cases in yellow, white or rose gold tones. These timepieces are glamorous, fashion-forward and timeless – a beautiful watch to pass down for generations.

Men are choosing matching straps to complement their attire, and adding accessories.
